The MESA Community College Program supports students to successfully transfer to four-year universities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) majors. To qualify to be a MESA participant, students must be educationally disadvantaged. This includes being the first in their family to go to college, attending a low performing high school, coming from a low socioeconomic background and other factors.

The Veterans Resource and Opportunity Center (VROC) is committed to the task of supporting veteran needs while in attendance at Cañada College and beyond. VROCs’ vision is to provide veterans, of all eras, returning to school with personalized service and encouragement through connection with admissions & records/counseling services/financial-aid, fellow veterans, and veteran related agencies and organizations.

The CalWORKs Program is available to TANF recipients providing payments for childcare, books, laptop loans, transportation costs (gas cards, parking permits and backpack supplies) and job preparation assistance.

Disability Resource Center (DRC) provides accommodations such as mobility assistance, special parking, and loan of special adaptive equipment to students with disabilities.

EOPS provides academic support, book vouchers, child care payments, and other services for low-income, educationally disadvantaged students.

The Cañada College Promise Scholarship is available to residents of San Mateo County who are recent high school graduates and students who have recently completed high school equivalency through the GED, HiSET, and TASC tests or Adult Education.  Students must enroll at Cañada College full-time and plan to earn a certificate or degree.

The Promise Scholarship will cover all student fees and textbook assistance for the first year that a student is enrolled (beginning in Fall semester and continuing through Spring semester and Summer session).

The TLC Program is a collection of textbooks, laptops, and graphing calculators that eligible students can check out for one semester.

Students must be enrolled in an English Basic Skills (READ or 800 level ENGL), Math Basic Skills (811, 110, 120, 190), or ESL class to be eligible for TLC. We do not carry textbooks for MATH 190 but students in those classes may check out a laptop and/or calculator.

Recommendation by a Retention Specialist or Financial Coach is required for the TLC Program.
